Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the main question start-ups come to us with?

A1. What problem am I trying to solve? Does that problem really exist? Or am I trying to create a problem for which my business concept can solve because I am too emotionally attached to it?

This is consistent across all businesses. The realisation of whether the business concept truly solves an issue that is genuinely evident in the market and sizeable enough to justify an investment in your solution. So many businesses launch without giving this critical factor the time and attention for research and consideration. Passion and emotion can too often get in the way of logic and business practicality. That is why it's so important to seek the professional help of a third part party to adequately assess the need for the business concept you hope to provide. This will not only save you time, resources and undue stress, but will give you the reassurance, confidence and clarity you need to successfully launch your concept.

Q2. Where do most start-ups hit a road block?

A1. In our experience, it comes down to the team spearheading the start-up and the level of preparation. Either the team is under prepared and lacks the resources, skills or direction to get the project off the ground, or the team is over prepared with too much focus on planning the most perfect concept, that nothing actually gets executed.

Finding a balance in preparation and execution that is aligned with your appetite for risk, is essential to getting your project off the ground. We work with businesses to find this realisation and balance so that our clients can learn to take actions outside their comfort zone. You have to start somewhere, it doesn't need to be perfect and an MVP will often generate the interest and feedback you need to validate your concept and the correct path forward.

Q3. What is the main reason businesses become static and lose momentum?

A3. Assumption is the mother of all **** ups! Businesses become complacent to what is going on around them, and do not listen, to their team, staff, clients, competitors, market. They assume they are still good at what they do, that they remain competitive, visible and in demand.

Complacency stems from assuming things are still good, causing businesses to become static and repetitive in what they do and how they think. This loss of momentum results in businesses becoming static and regressing instead of progressing. This is where we help business owners to work 'on' the business, rather than just 'in' the business. We act as a catalyst for growth.

Q4. How can we be a catalyst for growth?

A4. By asking the questions that you have not even thought of.

You know your business better than anyone, but that also leads to a form of tunnel vision. We work with you to see your business from different perspectives and stakeholders points of view developing a holistic view of your business. From there, it is our role to identify the gaps and plug them to elevate and accelerate business performance.

Q8. What exactly is a feasibility study?

A8. A feasibility study is an analysis carried out with the objective of obtaining a holistic view of a business or concept by examining a range of factors deemed critical to the success of the project.

The study will take into account a range of factors relevant to the project to assess the viability and feasibility of bringing the project to fruition. It usually takes place at the initial stage but can prove invaluable at any stage. The objective is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a proposed project or concept and the likelihood of success.
